Those who know me know that I\u2019m a fan of video games. And as Megan can attest, some of the games I play tend to be not for the young or faint of heart \u2013 games with over-the-top violence, language and, quite frankly, no redeeming moral or social value whatsoever. But let\u2019s be honest \u2013 those are some of the best kind of games! lol But I digress\u2026 <\/p>\n

Over the course of my life, I have taken for granted my freedom to walk into a Best Buy and buy whatever game my heart desired. Now this week, Warner Brothers released a fighting game worldwide. I am a huge fan of this franchise and have been following its development for the last year. Boy, I couldn\u2019t wait to play it. But wait\u2026I\u2019m not in America anymore\u2026I\u2019m in the UAE\u2026<\/p>\n

And as I watch my friends in America play this game, I\u2019m left feverishly surfing the internet to see if said game was going to be allowed into the UAE. This was a strange feeling for me. The game is certainly not the worst of its kind, but it didn\u2019t matter. If the government thought it contradicted the traditions and customs of the Muslim culture, it would join the several other dozen games that are banned from being sold.<\/p>\n

But, victory is mine (at least this round)! I’m the proud owner of the new Mortal Kombat, and have already logged more hours than I should in just two days!
