With fasting from sunrise to sunset the most prominent observance during Ramadan, the holy month affects us all – even the non-fasters. At work, there are special, blocked off areas for lunch, tea, coffee, water and even chewing gum. Personally, I have to stand in a tiny kitchen for lunch, which is a very small inconvenience compared with colleagues who do not eat or drink all day.<\/p>\n

With our first weekend during Ramadan, outside of work is very different as well and probably more noticeable. Take Marina Mall, a place that would normally be bustling late afternoon on a Friday. Today, not only were many shops closed, but the food court, cafes and even Starbucks – giving it a whole different feel.<\/p>\n
