Back home, brunch is a popular social activity on Sunday mornings – a way to wind down and prepare for the week ahead. In Abu Dhabi, however, brunch is popular on Fridays (which is like their Saturday). And one of the hottest places to have brunch is a place called “Pearls and Caviar”, a waterfront restaurant that is part of the Shangri-La Hotel.<\/p>\n

Inside, the place was packed with people dressed up for the occasion. No less than three of the parties were celebrating birthdays, so it seemed to be the place to come and toast friends\/family. The food was buffet style, divided into separate stations – the most unique being a risotto station. Much like an omelet station, you picked the add-ins and they delivered a delicious risotto to your table when completed. A grill on the outdoor deck served up fresh shrimp, chicken and lamb, while the wait staff kept our drinks filled (unlimited beer, wine and cocktails included!).<\/p>\n
