On the High Seas

While we’ve covered our pirate themed adventures before, we have yet to capture time as pirates closer to home. It was our second trip on the Potomac, and even better as O was able to experience all the fun. Here are some of the highlights!

Staycation on the Water

Like last year, we enjoyed a quick trip to National Harbor for a change of scenery, some time in the pool and the infamous “silent disco” party. This year was much rainier than last, but that didn’t dampen our spirits as there was plenty to do indoors.

All Star Day

With the MLB All Star Game in town, we had to soak up some of the action. Since many of the free activities were outside in 90+-degree heat, we sucked it up and bought tickets to FanFest for some air-conditioned fun. And, it did not disappoint! There were balloon animals, face painting, skills practices and…

Independence Ball

On the eve of Independence Day, the family set out for something truly American – baseball. At Nats Park, the Nationals took on the Red Sox. While the family was somewhat divided, overall, we were happy to see the Sox take home a solid victory! (BT Edit: Questionable use of the word “overall”)

Star Wars + Baseball!

When a Star Wars night coincides with baseball, this family needs to make a trip of it! It was worth the 45-minute ride to see the Bowie Baysox (an Orioles affiliate) take on the Portland Sea Dogs (a Red Sox affiliate), as right when we walked in, we were overtaken with tons of Star Wars…

Our first Major League Baseball game of the season was at Nationals Park, where thanks to a game that honored little leaguers around the area, we got to walk around the field before the first pitch. It was a bit sweltering, and the Nats did not end up winning, but it was an amazing experience…

Mother’s Day 2018

Mother’s Day weekend came and went quickly with an action-packed weekend around town. What began with some tee ball and a trip to Shirlington for lunch, ended with a lovely brunch in DC and dinner by the house. Being spoiled was tough to give up!

Fiesta 5K in 2018

For the 5th year in a row, we’ve had the opportunity to participate in the Fiesta 5K to support the Johns Hopkins Packard Center for ALS research. Colin was in a competitive mood and determined to finish first for Team Big Walt and Mike (he succeeded with a time of 48 minutes and 31 seconds)….

Both on the Hunt

It’s our 600th post! We found a relatively low-key egg hunt to get in the spirit of Easter this year. Colin and Owen took what was rightfully theirs during a beautiful afternoon at Frying Pan Farm Park, and then celebrated hanging out with some animals and a playground!
