A Trio of Visits – Part 2

Despite frigid temperatures, we did get outside while hanging at our favorite area cabin in February. The ice made for some interesting travels, but it was a successful way to get rid of the wiggles and burn some energy!

A Trio of Visits – Part 1

Because of COVID, we did not head to Williamsburg for an 8th President’s Day Weekend in a row. But, we did hit up a familiar place – the Cuddly Cub Cabin! It was our third season, and third visit. With the chill and ice outside, we got cozy inside and enjoyed some extra special Valentine’s…

Change of Scenery and Eateries

The first long weekend of the year was an opportunity for a change of scenery. When we booked Richmond, we didn’t realize there would be armed protests scheduled in 50 states and DC. But luckily we were safely a few miles away from the Capitol, just like at home, with an added bonus – new…

Fresh Air in the Country

While on a quick post-Christmas trip in Luray, we went on a couple walks in the woods on some kid-friendly trails within George Washington National Forest. It was a nice change of pace!

Happy 2021!

We escaped home to ring in the New Year in the outskirts of Luray, VA. Our cabin had great views, and the required hot tub for “relaxing” as a family. Colin marked a momentous occasion – making it to midnight for the first time to ring in a new year.

Fully Fall in SW Virginia

While away for the weekend, we had a rare treat – a visit to a pumpkin patch and corn maze – to fully embrace fall. Overlook Produce and Farm Adventures, outside of Harrisonburg, had tons of pumpkins to pick from and a fun but slightly challenging corn maze. Here’s a recap…

Back at “Our” Cabin

It was a long few months, but we did a rare repeat trip somewhere – enjoying more of the cabin life in Shenandoah, VA. With the cooler temps this time around, we appreciated the hot tub and roasting s’mores even more. Plus the leaves changing made for a very picturesque backdrop on a hike!

Among the Trees

While away for a long weekend in Luray, we did something new – ventured out. We chose a hiking spot first thing in the morning to avoid any crowds, and due to some gloomy weather, we had the entire trail loop to ourselves! Here are a few photos…

Back in the Woods

We had such an amazing time our first weekend away since the pandemic hit, that we booked another stay at a different cabin a month later. While it was a new locale, Luray, we of course took advantage of the “usuals” – s’mores, hot tub and just getting away from it all!
