A holiday visit to Punta Cana offered more than the resort to explore. We headed out on another snorkel trip with Hispaniola Aquatic Adventures and also visited a typical countryside home to learn how common products are made.

Holiday Sun and Sand
Fresh off of Christmas, we set out for warmth with a week in the Dominican Republic. With a six-year+ gap since our last visit, we headed to the resort next door which was just being built when we were there, Melia Paradisus Grand Cana. We loved our poolside, quiet room which was close to the…
National Harbor Christmas Magic
National Harbor knows how to bring in the Christmas spirit with shows, displays, activities and more, as we well know. From the cold of ICE to the warmth of hot chocolate, we experienced it all and had a great weekend!
At Home with Real Madrid
The whole reason for our trip to Madrid was not the lovely city in general, but football – and specifically watching Owen’s top-three favorite player of all time, Mbappe, and Real Madrid. Thanksgiving and Then On A Plane
Thanksgiving was a little more active this year, with a nice lunch with family before heading to Madrid to eventually watch Real Madrid (and take in some other sights). We captured some of the highlights of this city, getting some culture in (on top of many football-focused activities to come)!
An Actual Fall Break
With such a busy falls sports season, a break was much appreciated. The parents went one way to Omni Bedford Springs and the kids went another to Chez Grandparents as everyone slowed down and just had fun for a change of pace!
Final Hike: Johnston Canyon
Banff’s most famous hike was our last journey on foot during our two-week vacation away from home. It was a fun walk up and back, taking in the main waterfalls, along with other waterways, plants and even a few critters along the way. No bears this trip, but still an amazing getaway!
Final Stop: Banff
After a whirlwind two weeks in the Western US and Canada, the final stop was Banff. It was a fun town to hang out in, though the hotel had lots to offer. There were views, a pool, scenic walks, great food and drink and other ways to soak up the last of vacation!
