Hei, Helsinki!

We were off to see Santa Claus in the Arctic Circle (i.e., the North Pole) during Thanksgiving week, but we first got acclimated to the gem of a city – Helsinki! We took a bus tour to get a lay of the land, and explored central Helsinki by foot and even by ferris wheel…

Best of the Rest of Deutschland

While Oktoberfest was a main draw, and the countryside was beautiful, Munich itself was a lovely little city. We only scratched the surface (and the biergartens) so we’ll have to explore more on another trip!

Beautiful Bavaria

While Oktoberfest was a blast, we definitely wanted to explore other parts of the region while we were in Germany. For us, we ended up in the land of King Ludwig II – specifically at Neuschwanstein Castle and his hunting grounds at Linderhof Palace – with a little pit stop at a lovely restaurant over…

Oktoberfest/Wiesn!

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG – we made it to Oktoberfest! And what an amazing two days we had on the Theresienwiese grounds. We were quite surprised to find it more like a state fair, with tons of rides, games, food stalls and families running around during the day. And even inside the beer tents, it was lively but…

Best of the Rest of Destin

We covered a lot of ground in Destin, and took a lot of photos. Here are highlights of the rest of our week!

Floridian Pirates

We haven’t yet missed a chance to set sail for the high seas aboard a pirate ship, and Destin was no different! This time, the heat was a little much though. But, we made the most of the sweaty fun by hunting for treasuring, gaining key pirate skills and enjoying a little dance party at…

No Crabs But Still Fun at Crab Island

One of Destin’s coolest locations is Crab Island, a sandbar accessible only by boat and a true playground – pontoon boats, jet skis, over-water ninja warrior courses, restaurants and other vendors. The entire family enjoyed a great half day out on the water together – including on our two-slide boat and jet ski!

Diving in Destin

Two of the fifteen dusted off their diving certifications to head about 60-70 feet underwater and explore sea life in Destin. We visited the main Destin Bridge site, sunken to create an artificial reef in the 70s, as well as the East and North Bridge sites, which were teeming with fish, corals and other creatures.

Photos on the Beach

We used time together in Destin for a family photo shoot. We managed to get nearly 400 photos in 40 minutes as the sun set over the Gulf of Mexico. Some participants were easier to work with than others, but all the family came home with some great shots!
