Rest of Asheville

It was a lovely long weekend in Asheville, hiking, touring Biltmore and otherwise enjoying fall. Here’s a roundup of the rest of the best!

Touring the Big House

Biltmore, the largest privately owned home in the US, lived up to the expectations – taking more than an hour to walk through the areas open to the public (not even counting the gardens and other grounds). The audio tour made it informative, and the boys thoroughly enjoyed the kids’ version.

Fall Foliage Hike

It was our first trip to Asheville, and one of the best hikes according to the interwebs was the Triple Falls in Dupont Forest – made famous by Last of the Mohicans or, more recently, Hunger Games. We came, we conquered the inclines and even enjoyed ourselves (except one of us the last stretch on…

Celebrating 11!

Colin turned double 1s this year and was very much excited for his baseball-themed birthday with friends! His actual birthday was just days later as he enjoyed some freshly baked Trade Joe’s croissants, a day at school, some pitching practice and a night out at Melting Pot to cap the day!

Eight is Great at Cox Farms

Another fall visit (the 8th to be exact) at Cox Farms under our belt, and it was a beautiful fall day for sure! The sun was shining, the boys were running around, and all was great (until legs were tired of course). Here are some of the highlights!

Go DC United!

It took a while, but our first pro soccer adventure was an up-and-down 90 minutes, where DC scored twice – but once taken away due to offsides and once the ref didn’t see it (a player blocked the ball but was standing inside the goal) – so the game ended in a draw. With Dippin’…

A New Great Wolf

After more than a decade, we visited a newly opened Great Wolf with great friends! It was hard to stray from our original favorite, but this one had some plusses for sure – including being a fair bit closer to home and having friends to spend time with!

Labor Day in P-A

We hopped in the car this Labor Day Weekend and headed west to Nemacolin, a resort in the Allegheny Mountains. We were spoiled with cool pools, all the mini golf we could handle, milk and cookies every night, good food and lots of activities. We spent our first full day pretty scheduled out with fun…

Running the Bases

Not sure why it took so long, but the boys finally ran the bases at Nationals Park! Fresh off a walk-off win from 5 runs down going into the 9th inning on a hot day, everyone was pumped for more baseball action – and that meant running in the steps of baseball greatness!
