Today we finally settled on our apartment – hooray!! But it wasn’t all peaches and cream – to say this morning was stressful would be an understatement. Our schedule was jammed packed and there was no room for error. After meeting with our agent, we arrived at the landlord’s office around 8:30am. We needed to…

Brunching like a Local
Back home, brunch is a popular social activity on Sunday mornings – a way to wind down and prepare for the week ahead. In Abu Dhabi, however, brunch is popular on Fridays (which is like their Saturday). And one of the hottest places to have brunch is a place called “Pearls and Caviar”, a waterfront…
Paper, forms and fees, oh my!
The last few days have been all about paperwork. Yesterday, I went to a government office to have copies of our marriage license certified by the UAE. Oktoberfest
Yesterday we went to an Abu Dhabi Oktoberfest, which was held at the One to One Hotel. The hotel itself is really nice and probably only about 2 miles from our new apartment. (It’s always good to take note of the nearby hotels because they are the only places that serve booze!) The event itself…
Week in Review
Since the U.A.E. uses a Sunday to Thursday work week, it’s time to relax. Overall this week has been busy, but manageable, which is a good thing since it means we are starting to get into a routine. A few of the highlights: – Of course the week started with the drama of us finally…
Riding along the beach
In the heart of downtown is a road called the Corniche, which runs parallel to the water. On the weekends, it’s a popular place for people to hang out at the beach, grab some food or lounge in the grassy park along the street opposite the beach. We haven’t been to an actual beach yet…
