One of the most nature-inspired days was a drive around the Cape Peninsula – from Hout Bay to Boulders Beach to the Cape of Good Hope and back! We saw coastline, small towns, penguins, ostriches, baboons, seals and more during an action-packed day. It surprisingly wasn’t a ton of time in the car to see so, so much. We felt all that hiking and stair climbing the next day though!
Setting sail for Seal Island from Hout Bay
Seal Island had a lot of…seals
Random stop along scenic Chapman Peak Drive
A new friend at Boulder’s Beach
Penguin hang out at Boulder’s Beach
Needless to say, we thought about taking a penguin home
Baboons caused quite the back up driving to the Cape of Good Hope
We made it! There’s a sign to prove it!
It was a hike but we made it to the Cape Point lighthouse to take in views
It’s official. We were at the south-westernmost point in Africa.
One of the more random animals we encountered
View from our hotel room, back safely from the Cape Peninsula trek
Just a family of baboons strolling across the road…
Strolling along Seal Island….I wonder where it got its name??
