Taking Flight Indoors

It was a rainy Saturday, so we opted for some reinforcements to secure a good night’s sleep – time at the trampoline park! We were lucky to have the Chins join us, as Colin was having none of the fun until he saw his buddies Josh and Andrew living it up. Then, we couldn’t get…

Snow in March

Just when we thought spring was around the corner (and now it’s here!) – snow and ice set in to welcome March 2015. Colin didn’t mind at all, jabbering away in excitement and posing for the camera as the cold reminded us we really should look into a move down south…

Passing the Time

How does an energy-filled toddler pass the time away during the winter months? With lots of activities to use up some energy – and some treats given mostly to stop whining in its tracks. Here’s a random assortment of adventures…

Holidays on the Water

Despite being established for years, the National Harbor was a destination we had yet to visit. We had heard good things – plus found out about a few free holiday-themed activities – so figured it was time to see what this place was all about. With bright lights, a wandering Santa, a huge fountain show…

A Hoya Christmas

Though we know Colin was not a big fan of Santa, we tested our luck by heading to a breakfast with the jolly old man on Georgetown’s campus. Surrounded by other Hoya families, in a dining facility that wasn’t yet built during my tenure, C enjoyed the food and crafts, but only slightly tolerated Santa….

It was time. Time to head to the Smithsonian and check out some of our taxpayer dollars at work. For C’s museum debut, we visited the Museum of Natural History with buddy Aidan. The main draw was the butterfly exhibit, though the dinosaurs and jungle animals were a definite plus. For some reason, the museum…

Lights, Camera, Animals!

Taking advantage of unseasonably warm weather, we enjoyed at night out at the zoo for Zoolights. We took in all the twinkling lights we could handle, plus some indoor exhibits filled with reptiles, apes and more. And did we mention there was a carousel? Sounds like C’s perfect night out.

A County (Af)Fair

With beautiful fall day ahead of us, we watched some of our tax dollars at work while attending the Fairfax County Fall Fest. This meant “free” arts and crafts, a petting zoo and entertainment, plus some not-so-free food and rides. Another great outing to demonstrate why fall is the best time of year!

Feeling Like Fall

Despite the temperatures near 80, the first weekend of fall truly brought out the best of the season with a visit to Cox Farms. There were pumpkins, a hay ride, apple cider and warm donuts – all the makings of a great fall day. That – combined with no less than 10 slides (all of…
