The big 5-year wedding anniversary was upon us, and we celebrated in style at Qasr al Sarab resort…just two hours by car, but a world away. Situated in the “Empty Quarter” (a vast desert area that encompasses much of the country), the resort was an oasis amongst red sand dunes. We rented a small villa, taking advantage of our own little backyard and personal “plunge” pool by lounging there the entire weekend! We didn’t want to leave, and you can see why…
Welcome to villa 34!
Morning coffee in our kitchenette
Breakfast included? I guess we can leave the villa for that…
The desert nearly engulfs the resort
In our cooled plunge pool
Living the hard life in the desert
The lounger where we spent 90% of the weekend…
Want lunch? Out of ice? Need a buggy ride to check out? Just tell the in-room iPad.
Best views from a hotel room…ever
Brian didn’t get sick of taking pictures…the whole time…ever
We took a million cool sunset shots!
View from the pool at dusk
Our “free” anniversary chocolate mousse cake (complete with trick candle)
Alas, we had to say goodbye sometime…
The ride to/from the main road was 15 minutes of pure, unfiltered desert
Beautiful shot of the resort (CLICK TO SEE PANORAMIC)
