While we took advantage of several babymoons with our African and Middle Eastern travels mid-year, we did sneak in a final getaway from home with a night in the Virginia countryside before Baby Plum arrives. It was the first time we were able to experience autumn in three years, participating in traditional “fall” activities such as pumpkin and apple picking and hitting up a local eatery for some apple cider (and BBQ of course). Here are a few highlights…
First stop was the Apple House for cider and BBQ!
Brian was deprived of pulled pork for months!
Hartland Orchards was a great place to experience a bit of fall
It was a beautiful day for the pumpkin patch
We hope our “loot” lasts through Halloween!
We managed to scour the orchard for some prime apples, too
Our home base was the Ashby Inn
The B&B charm is definitely something unique to the US!
Guess who’s who?
All dressed up for a nice dinner out…perhaps the last for a while!
More pork as we enjoyed some fine dining at the inn
This looks odd, but it was actually quite a creative creation of sweet corn ice cream with caramel and vanilla sauce
